I Am A Miracle . . .

Affirmation: Today, I allow myself to be the miracle that I’ve become.
Gratitude: I am grateful for the miracle of life!

Often, I hear people say, “Mary, you’re really a miracle”, referring to my almost 6 year brain tumor survival. I tend to minimize things so I most always respond with, “Well, actually I am very fortunate”…or…”Those low grade cancers tend to hang out for a while”…..I believe it was yesterday when someone pointed it out again and I just took a moment and said, “Yeah, I guess I am”……and that felt so good to just allow myself that feeling of accomplishment without adulterating it in any way.

I think it’s really important to use any kind of healthy momentum that we can in our healing process. Our minds have so much power and influence and it’s really important to swing it in a positive direction. If you want to take it a step further and walk through the visualization/affirmation door, I recommend these steps:

1. Prepare a nice space and get grounded. I prefer a nice warm bath, sometimes the typical meditation posture on a pillow, or just a supine position and always with my palms facing up. The quieter the better.
2. In order to maximize the healing experience, I encourage you to be clear of your intention and know ahead of time specifically what you are asking for. Sometimes I “get” it during my regular meditations though when I intentionally set out to do a visualization/affirmation, I tend to know exactly what it is that I want to focus on….see it, believe it, be it!
3. I find that if I just relax, breathe and “open myself up” to the Divine, things happen very quickly…especially with practice.
4. There are numerous techniques and everyone’s is unique. Since this is such a personal experience, I do believe that by allowing yourself to relax and let it be whatever it needs to be at that moment, everything will beautifully fall into place.

So, the next time someone tells you you’re a miracle….I recommend that you agree and be proud that you ARE!!

In Health And Healing,
Dr. Mary
